Summer Hiking Elopement in Berchtesgaden

You definitely don’t have to hike on your elopement day, BUT hiking just a few miles often gives you the possibility to experience nature in a completely different atmosphere. Away from all the tourists – just the two of you. That’s exactly what Kathrina & Michael did for their summer elopement in Berchtesgaden.

Their day started super relaxed at the beautiful Almdorf Vorderbrand where they enjoyed a whirlpool session together. They made the decision beforehand to start their day together and then after getting ready had a first touch and read some personal words.

Before jumping on to a cable car they also had a mini wedding cake (who says you can’t have a wedding cake on your elopement?) made by Anton & Ella at a beautiful table decorated by Oh Yes Eventdesign and Blumen Oberbauer.

And then it was time for us to put our hiking boots on and go for a short hike to the cable car. Once at the top we started to explore the area and soak in the amazing views we had. Their couple session took place right at sunset and the best thing was – they were completely alone as everyone else took the last cable car down to the valley. After hiking around for a few minutes, we found the perfect spot for them to exchange their personal vows.

To take care of all the wild flowers around we ditched popping some champagne and went for sparkling water instead (the results are more or less the same).

We then started our hike downhills equipped with headlamps and it was timed perfectly. We had just arrived at our cars and said our goodbyes as the rain started and we heard thunder a few miles away. That’s one of the things you need to be aware of when choosing to elope in the summer: There is always the chance of some evening thunderstorms and/ or rain. But with the right preparation and someone who knows the area well by your side there always alternatives that usually turn out to be just as good if not even better than Plan A.
