Cadini di Misurina Elopement

There’s something incredibly special about couples who choose to leave everything behind, travel across the world, and celebrate their love in the mountains.

L & N traveled all the way from the United States to the Italian Dolomites for an intimate elopement—just the two of them. And here's a fun fact: they actually reached out to us before they were officially engaged! They already knew that whenever the proposal happened, they wanted to exchange their vows surrounded by the breathtaking peaks of the Dolomites.

Their wedding day turned into an unforgettable adventure filled with iconic landscapes, quiet moments, happy tears, and plenty of laughter.

A Sunrise Ceremony at Lake Braies

Their day began long before sunrise.

Hair and makeup started in the middle of the night so we could reach Lake Braies before the crowds arrived. While many couples dream of visiting the Dolomites' most famous locations, it's important to know that these places become incredibly busy during the day—especially in summer. If you're dreaming of an intimate elopement, an early start is absolutely worth it.

One of the biggest advantages of sunrise at Lake Braies is that you can privately reserve the famous boathouse and dock before visitors arrive. That's exactly what L & N did.

With the lake completely still and surrounded by the first golden light of the morning, they had their first look and exchanged their private vows in complete peace. Afterwards, they took their time simply soaking in the silence before ending the experience with a romantic ride in one of the iconic wooden rowboats.

It was everything they had imagined—and more.

Picnic by an alpine lake

Our next stop was another bucket-list destination: Tre Cime di Lavaredo.

If you're planning to visit Tre Cime by car, it's essential to reserve your access to the toll road in advance during the busy season. Without a reservation, you may not be able to drive up to the parking area.

After such an early start, it was time for a well-deserved break.

Instead of rushing from one location to the next, we created space to slow down. L & N enjoyed a cozy lakeside picnic where they shared delicious cake and read heartfelt letters from their loved ones back home. Even though they had chosen to elope privately, it was a beautiful way to include family and friends in their wedding day. These quiet moments often become some of our couples' favorite memories.

Visiting the Famous Tre Cime

Once we reached Tre Cime, we avoided the busiest areas around the parking lot and the main hiking trail.

One of the things we always tell our couples is that the Dolomites are much bigger than the famous viewpoints you see on social media. While the popular paths can get crowded, it's surprisingly easy to find peaceful corners if you're willing to walk just a little farther.

That's exactly what we did. Surrounded by dramatic mountain peaks and with hardly anyone around, L & N shared their first dance together.

Hiking to Cadini di Misurina Viewpoint

Of course, one location was still on their wishlist: Cadini di Misurina.

The famous viewpoint has become incredibly popular over the last few years. During peak season, it's completely normal to find a long line of people waiting for their turn to take a photo.

Fortunately, knowing the area well makes all the difference.

Instead of heading to the crowded hotspot, we explored several other viewpoints just off the main trail. They offered the exact same spectacular mountain scenery—but without the crowds.

L & N absolutely loved every second of it. They ran across the alpine meadows, laughed nonstop, and couldn't stop staring at the endless mountain ridges around them. Their excitement was contagious—the kind that reminds you of children seeing something magical for the very first time.

Stopping for Every Goat and Cow

One thing we immediately bonded over was our shared love for animals.

Just like us, they couldn't resist stopping every few minutes whenever we spotted mountain goats or cows peacefully grazing across the alpine meadows. Those little unscripted moments often become some of our favorite memories from an elopement day.

They remind us that an elopement isn't about rushing from one photo location to the next. It's about experiencing the place together.

Ending the Perfect Day

After a full day exploring the Dolomites together, we finished the adventure in the best possible way: with pizza.

We spent the evening chatting for hours about life, travel, and of course, their dogs waiting for them back home in the United States. By the end of the day, it no longer felt like we had just photographed clients. It felt like spending the day with friends.
