Black Forest Castle Elopement
When E&J first reached out to us, they shared something we hear more and more often from couples: "We don't love being the center of attention. We're introverts at heart, and a big wedding just never felt like us."
Instead, they wanted a day that reflected who they truly are — quiet, meaningful, intentional.
Their vision? A peaceful, nature-filled elopement in a location rich with family history. The Black Forest in Germany was the perfect choice, not just for its enchanted landscapes and fairytale charm, but also because E's ancestors once lived there. It was a way to honor their roots while creating something entirely their own.
The morning began slowly and separately. Each of them got ready in their own quiet space, surrounded by calm and anticipation. Their First Look took place in the winding alleys of a historic village. Cobblestone paths, timber-framed houses, and that kind of old-world magic you can’t fake. It was quiet. Intimate. Perfect.
From there, we headed to a castle nestled in the hills of the Black Forest. It offered sweeping views of the soft, rolling landscape, stretching endlessly into the distance. But instead of saying their vows there, E&J chose a place just off the beaten path. A mossy rock between two ancient trees, their roots weaving across the forest floor. That’s where they shared their ceremony, led by a close friend, with a panoramic view and complete privacy. Just the sound of the wind and the leaves.
After the ceremony, we took a break. A quiet lunch, a few deep breaths, and then it was time to explore. We hiked to a waterfall hidden deep in the forest. Their little son loved every second of it. Climbing over stones, chasing light beams through the trees, discovering the world at his own pace.
Anne had prepared a forest picnic for the late afternoon. Tucked away in a secluded spot where not a single soul would disturb them. There was laughter, a toast, and cake topped with a tiny figurine of their beloved dog, who couldn’t be there but was still part of their day. And then came the surprise: a Jenga set from their loved ones back home, each piece etched with handwritten wishes and sweet messages.
As the sun dipped lower, casting beautiful light through the branches, E&J shared their first dance right there in the woods. No audience. No pressure. Just the two of them and the quiet rustle of the trees.
